Today’s modern washers use a suspension spring set to hold the washer tub in balance and over time these suspension rods wear out and cause the washer to bang on the spin cycle. This is something that can be fixed quickly.

If your vent is blocked, the dryer has a series of safety fuses that are designed to prevent dryer fires by purposefully failing to prevent over heating and potential dryer failure.
